چکیده
Abstract. Let f ∈ Lp(R), 1 ≤ p < ∞ and let Λ ⊆ R be discrete. We consider the nature of the closed linear span X of the translations of f by λ ∈ Λ under the assumption that these translations can be ordered to be basic, unconditional basic, a Schauder frame or a biorthogonal system. We show, for example, that such a system can never be a basis for L1(R) or an unconditional basis for Lp(R) if 1 < p ≤ 4. If p > 4, we give an example of such an unconditional basic sequence with X containing an isomorph of Lp(R).

SYSTEMS FORMED BY TRANSLATES OF ONE ELEMENT IN Lp(R)
Abstract. Let 1 ≤ p < ∞, f ∈ Lp(R) and Λ ⊆ R. We consider the closed subspace of Lp(R), Xp(f,Λ), generated by the set of translations f(λ) of f by λ ∈ Λ. If p = 1 and {f(λ) : λ ∈ Λ} is a bounded minimal system in L1(R), we prove that X1(f,Λ) embeds almost isometrically into `1. If {f(λ) : λ ∈ Λ} is an unconditional basic sequence in Lp(R), then {f(λ) : λ ∈ Λ} is equivalent to the unit vector ba...
متن کاملSpans in Lebesgue and Uniform Spaces of Translations of Step Functions
For each p^ 1, Lp is a linear metric complete separable space. Let E be a set in Lp. The linear manifold M(E) determined by E is the set of all linear combinations (finite) of elements of £ . The span SP(E) of E in Lp is the closure in Lp of M (E) ; an element cj> of Lp belongs to SP(E) if and only if to each e > 0 corresponds an element f€ of M(E) such that | | 0 /« | | <e . is the most fundamental example. Much like in the classical case of the Lebesgue di erentiation theorem, pointwise convergence almost everywhere of the inverse Fourier transform to f ∈ Lp (R) can be reduced to Lp bounds for the maximal operator C. Weak type L2 bounds were rst obtained by Lennart Carleson in 1966 [8], thus providing a surprising a rmative solution to the question of pointwise co...
متن کاملAn Analysis of Social Systems in the Translation of The Great Gatsby
This article was written based on the key concept of polysystem theory which, in translating any literary text, emphasizes the transference of the social systems in which a text is embedded. As stated by Tynjanov (1978a), polysystem theory saw translated literature as a system operating in the larger social systems of the target text. Thus, the task of understanding as well as transferring such...
متن کاملLinguistic Analysis of the Main Traits of Stream of Consciousness in the Persian Translations of Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway and James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
This study investigated how the main linguistic traits of stream of consciousness novels are realized in Persian translations and also the frequency of translation strategies used by translators. Accordingly, a restricted set of linguistic parameters which Totò (2014) asserts can show the stream of thought of character(s), is chosen including punctuation, exclamatory utterances, interjections, ...
